Do you have $’s invested in programs or processes that are just sitting there? Have you run out of time, energy or you are spinning your wheels with information overload?

I love cooking (and eating) multicultural food! So, what does cooking have to do with business processes or coaching programs? I promise it does!

Have you ever tried a coaching program or process and said “It didn’t work for me”?

You found it confusing … they went too fast … it was too stressful … you didn’t feel comfortable doing it their way … you didn’t see the relevance with what you do … how it could save you time … or help you make more money.

With our love of cooking, learning and experiencing other cultures; my husband and I have experienced cooking lessons. Thai, Sushi, Paleo & Indian. (I’m addicted to cookbooks & recipes!)

recipesWe cook quite differently. Norm adds to and changes the recipe; inadvertently missing a step, because he creates as he goes. I follow the recipe exactly and then next time will tweak it to suit or even notice a missing a step, so change it for next time. Some might be quick to decide they don’t like a recipe because of that. I’ve realized that it’s similar to taking coaching programs or implementing new processes.

It’s what you do with the process or program (the recipe); to make it work for you; not always what someone tells you will work. That’s what really counts!

Here are some questions you can ask yourself, if you have $1,000’s of training materials sitting on the shelf or in your computer:

  1. What steps can I take to ensure I don’t get overwhelmed?
  2. What elements of the process or program could work for me? There must be a nugget in there somewhere.
  3. Who can I get to help me break it down into smaller, step-by-step pieces?

Understand … it won’t always ‘feel comfortable’. If you really want comfortable, maybe entrepreneurialism isn’t for you. Owning your own business is the biggest form of self-improvement. Even the uncomfortable moments can be part of the great journey!

My mentor says, “it never gets completely comfortable and it will get easier. If it does get really comfortable, then you’re probably heading in the wrong direction!”  🙂

I recently helped a client create steps to help her figure it out; her way. Now she can ‘lather, rinse, repeat’. She is smart and really busy caring for her family, working a job and her running her own business. She wanted a shortcut to enhance her learning and productivity AND she has more confidence, in the process.

Break it down into smaller steps … tweak it … so that it makes sense for you or your team.

A few more questions for you to gain perspective:

  • Is there a step missing for me? (don’t worry about anyone else)
  • Do I need help piecing it together, in manageable steps or timelines?
  • What success am I preventing, due to incomplete programs or processes?

Don’t put your plans on hold because you’re stuck or overwhelmed.

Please, don’t doubt your abilities or judge yourself. All you really need is someone to help develop a plan; to nurture and coach you through the process or program to be more effective and have less stress.
